Remit:
OH Talent Solutions are working with a valued client — a CQC-regulated care provider — who are currently looking to recruit a Head of Case Management Operations to build and lead their in-house case management function. This is a genuinely significant leadership role, acting as the single operational point of contact for solicitors, insurers and external case management companies across complex, catastrophic and long-term community care packages.

The Role:
You will design and oversee an end-to-end case management pathway, enabling legal teams to instruct one regulated provider from initial assessment through to long-term community care. You will lead a team of Case Managers and Local Care Managers, build key relationships with law firms and insurers and drive quality, compliance and commercial growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and team management:

  • Recruit, supervise and appraise Case Managers and Local Care Managers, ensuring safe caseloads and effective staff deployment

  • Provide regular clinical and operational supervision, supporting decision-making, escalation and risk management

  • Set and monitor KPIs including time from referral to assessment, visit compliance, report timeliness and safeguarding performance

Operational case management:

  • Oversee triage, assessment and care planning for complex clients including ABI, spinal injury, catastrophic injury, paediatrics and complex neurological and mental health

  • Ensure care plans are person-centred, outcome-focused and CQC compliant

  • Monitor clinical and functional outcomes and adjust care plans in response to changes in need, risk or litigation stage

External liaison:

  • Develop and maintain structured relationships and SLAs with independent case management companies

  • Act as primary contact for claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers on care delivery, risk, safeguarding and client progress

  • Provide timely structured updates and reports to inform interim payment applications, care cost schedules and settlement discussions

Pathway and service development:

  • Design and maintain a clear pathway from referral through to long-term community care for catastrophic and complex cases

  • Standardise templates for assessments, care plans, outcome reports and costed proposals

  • Contribute to tenders, framework applications and commercial negotiations

Governance, quality and safeguarding:

  • Ensure robust safeguarding practice across all case-managed packages

  • Lead audits on documentation quality, visit compliance and communication timelines

  • Chair internal complex-case panels and contribute to quality improvement plans

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Registered health or social care professional — RMN, RGN, OT, Social Worker or equivalent

  • Significant experience managing complex caseloads including ABI, spinal injury or catastrophic injury

  • Proven track record leading teams or services including supervision and performance management

  • In-depth knowledge of CQC regulations, safeguarding and risk management in community settings

  • Experience working with solicitors, insurers or statutory commissioners on high-value complex packages

  • Excellent communication, negotiation and report writing skills

Desirable:

  • Experience in catastrophic injury and medico-legal case management in the independent sector

  • Knowledge of NHS Continuing Healthcare and ICB processes across Birmingham and Solihull

  • Experience contributing to bids, tenders and commercial discussions

Package:

  • £55,000 – £60,000 per annum dependent on experience

  • Hybrid working — Birmingham and West Midlands community and office based

  • Full time permanent
